Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell
rose to fame for his role as a character on "Saturday Night Live,"
before appearing in such large-screen comedies as 'Elf,"Anchorman,"
and 'Talladega Nights.' Will Ferrell was born in Irvine, California in 1967. He
began his career in comedy as an actor in the improv troupe based in Los
Angeles, the group, the Groundlings. After his successful seven-year tenure as
a cast member of Saturday Night Live, he became one of the film industry's most
popular comedians through off-color films like Old School (2003) and Anchorman:
The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). Ferrell was also co-founder of the streaming
video site Funny or Die and enjoyed his success as a voice actor in animated
films such as Megamind (2010). John William Ferrell, born July 16, 1967 in
Irvine, California. Will Ferrell was the oldest son of Righteous Brothers
keyboardist Lee Ferrell and teacher Kay Ferrell. He was according to his own
admission not the typical class clown as a University High School student.
Ferrell who was quiet and studious decided to leave his mark on football, where
he set an all-time record at the school for the most field goals he scored.
Even in the more comfortable surroundings of his suburban home, Ferrell
displayed little of the outrageous, humorous exclamations that would later
define his career. "Very even tempered, very relaxed," his mother
recalled in an interview with Esquire. "You do you remember those tiny
Matchbox cars?" Will put together his Matchbox cars by himself and be
totally content. You would say, "You want to go to Disneyland today?"
It would be a difficult discussion for him to think about. Ferrell wasn't
exactly a straight-laced man. When he would make his daily announcements on the
PA system, a glimpse of his comedy skills was revealed every day at high
school. Ferrell was a graduate in 1986, and enrolled at the University of
Southern California in Los Angeles. There he joined the Delta Tau fraternity to
pursue an education as an sports journalist.
